NEWSecond "Andy Warhol" + Karl Sim Screen-Print Workshop!

Saturday 9th December 2023.

The FIRST Andy Warhol / Karl Sim Screen-Print Workshop, held on Sunday 26th November 2023, was a Roaring Success, enjoyed by all (pictures up soon!)...

Meaning we are going to run a SECOND Workshop on Saturday the 9th of December!

ALL THE INFO YOU NEED...

This SECOND fun Screen-Print Workshop is planned to be similar (yet with different & new imagery!) to a workshop that was held at the very first "Mangaweka Fakes & Forgeries" back in 2007. This “screen-printing” workshop will be held at the Mangaweka “Yellow Church” Gallery, on Saturday 9th of December, with Resident Artist Richard Aslett.

There will be 8 places available (max). Aimed primarily at adults (due the delicate/fragile nature of the equipment that is involved/used) however this workshop will be open to younger folks, if they can provide a supporting (and additional paying) adult, to fully supervise during the workshop (please only paying participants during the actual workshop, family friends fine before/after)

Running from 10.30am to around 3.30pm participants will have a relaxed 'introduction' to the history of screen printing and learn the theory side of what is about to happen print-wise, from Gallery owner Richard Aslett, who worked in the screen-printing field for many years back in the 1980’s.

Participants will then be provided with 2 different A3 images, with a pre-printed “outline”. They will then “paint in” their chosen back ground colours (can be single or multi-colour). While these have dry, a third different image will be screen-printed by participants, again to be coloured in. Finally all 3 different images will  have a concluding Black top screen-print applied to each image, by each individual participant.

There will also be a chance for participants to bring 1 single cotton T-shirt or piece of A3 Fabric, to also have a 'final' black printed image applied by the participants themselves!

Near the end of the workshop, the participants will be asked to choose just one of their finished works (they must choose one - hopefully their best!) to enter into a special separate ‘Fakes & Forgeries Screen-print Exhibition’ which will run in Dec/Jan & February at the Gallery.

Participants are then able to take home their other two remaining screen-print images that they have created (the selected works exhibited will be returned after the exhibition closes, unless they choose to sell them and they sell).

Tea & coffee, & drinking water will be provided by the Gallery throughout, yet participants are asked to bring a snack for lunch should they require, for mid-way through the workshop (or just visit the delicious “Dukes Café” just down the road).

If the last workshop in 2007 AND the one on the 26th of Nov was anything to go by, it should be a lot of fun for those taking part!

Places are just $25 each (paid in advance) thanks to funding from Creative Communities & Rangitikei District Council.

PLACES ARE LIMITED to 8 Participants, with 3 places already filled, So book early!
